Dear Friend,
When the Baton Rouge Irish Film Festival premiered in June of 2009, it was a huge success. The fourteenth annual film festival is in a regrowth year with a return to the Manship Theater in the Shaw Building for the Performing Arts, Friday night, August 9th, and all day Saturday, August 10th, and our Pub Night on Monday, August 12th – hosted again by Phil Brady’s on Government Street. During the festival, three feature films and approximately 2 hours of shorts will be shown. In addition, audiences will enjoy Ryan’s School of Irish Dance, lively Irish music provided by Kitchen Sessions, and bagpipes.
We hope that you will join us as a sponsor to help underwrite the expenses and show support for this great cultural event. Donations made to The Baton Rouge Irish Film Festival are tax deductible under Treas. Reg 1.513-4(c)(1). Sponsors are invited to a special reception party on Friday, August 9th, to open the festival, receive recognition for their participation and enjoy a great evening as only the Irish can put on! We look forward to a successful film festival and thank you for your support.
The mission of the Baton Rouge Irish Club is to help support and keep alive the Irish heritage that over 60 million Americans claim as theirs. The Baton Rouge Irish Club began the tradition of supporting Irish culture, history, and festivities in Baton Rouge over fifty years ago. Since the 1950s and 1960s, parades, grand dances, and large dinners celebrating St. Patrick’s Day have been a part of the social landscape of Baton Rouge.
We began another tradition in 2005 with the annual Bloomsday Celebration in June with Irish music and readings from James Joyce, a most respected and controversial Irish author. The Irish Club presents a host of rotating events such as: Dinner Theatre each year featuring a play by an Irish playwright, Shamrocks and Champagne Brunch, Whiskey Tastings and cultural informative programs at our monthly meetings. We have also sponsored concerts by traditional Irish musicians and continue to help fund Irish dance organizations.
We hope you will join us in presenting and preserving Irish culture for Baton Rouge.
Sincerely,
Frances Dodson
